OUR LENTEN SEASON HAS BEEN FILLED WITH
GREAT FELLOWSHIP, STUDY AND WORSHIP!
EASTER IS ON SUNDAY, MARCH 23!
Each Wednesday in February we have been meeting for supper. About 50 of us have then divided into small groups for study and great conversation. Thank you to all of you who have helped in so many ways to make this time meaningful. We continue for the first and second Wednesdays in March; and then we start Holy week on March 16.
Here are the special events that are involved with Holy week:
On Palm Sunday will be the adult cantata at both worship services. The choir has been working overtime to have everything ready so early this year. The cantata has a drama with it as well, which we hope it will add extra meaning to their presentation.
Maundy Thursday will be a special Communion service at 7:00. The choir will be singing and Rev. Jeff will be preaching. This contemplative service helps us to remember the sacrifice of Jesus for all of us.
On Easter Sunday we will begin with the youth leading a sunrise service in the sanctuary at 7:00. They will lead with songs and drama.
Following the Sunrise service, there will be a breakfast for everyone. This should take us up to the start of the 8:45 service. There will be Sunday School at 10:00 followed by the 11:00 service. Be sure and bring all of your family to the Easter service. We will be filled with joy on Easter morning.
There will be our special Lenten offering taken during these last few weeks of Lent. The offering will be used to help with our mission apportionments for the year.
On Sunday morning March 30 will be United Methodist Women’s Sunday. Lauren Green, our seminary student, will bring a message from her trip this summer doing mission work. Lauren is so good at sharing from her heart. Plan to attend this special service.
The momentum from our Lenten Study will be carried over into our work with the Natural Church Development ministries of our church. As we move into the Spring, we will be adding programming that will help us deal with our areas of weakness that were discovered in our earlier church survey.
The Walk to Emmaus Team is busy recruiting people and making us all more aware of the opportunities that are available for spiritual growth through this retreat ministry.
The Fund-raising team is beginning their work. The Family Council is planning a entire program of activities for the rest of the year. The Outreach team is working on a special “O Baby, O Toddler” Sunday on May 5th. Softball is just around the corner. It’s time to get back in shape.
